The Fox

There didn&rsquo;t seem to be enough staff for the amount of tables, long wait for drinks and food, the food and drink were nice but the service was not great at all , I&rsquo;m sure it&rsquo;s not the staff&rsquo;s fault but it ruined our meal, we waited over 20 minutes for milk for our tea by which time it was cold.

Wow what can I say but it&#39;s a little gem of a place. We took my son and his partner and had a lovely time. Food was fantastic and would highly recommend. Service was five star and would definitely  go again ( and we travelled 55 miles to get there!!)

I had the tomato soup this afternoon, which was excellent. However, the shepherds pie was disappointing as I felt it was quite dry, small in size and came without vegetables. I did not finish the soup as it was very filling. I wish In hindsight that it was the other way round.The service by the staff was very good and the food was given to us promptly.

We were looked after very well by Chelsea and Craig who delivered friendly attentive service.The food and service has improved a lot since our previous visit and we will happily go back.Thank you Chelsea and Craig for looking after us today.

I made my booking for the Fox on 27 Sept. and stated in the &#39; Comments&#39; section that I was booking for my daughter&#39;s Birthday celebration on Sunday 1 October.  I also asked if it would be possible to have a cake and candles and what the cost would be?.  In spite of receiving a number of confirmations and reminders not once was my question about the cake and candles answered.  On the 1 October we arrived on time as scheduled and the first thing we were given was a list of items on the menu now not available - eg Beef and several side dishes.  The only menu option we were left with was Turkey.  No beef and nothing containing beef we were told!  It was incredibly disappointing - what was the purpose of all the messages asking for confirmation and saying they were really looking forward to our visit when in fact we were not actually going to be catered for?  We ended up having a reasonable meal but not what we had expected to eat.    We were told they were extremely busy but we had booked and confirmed on more than one occasion (at least 5 times).  What was the point of confirming?  No mention was made at all to the fact that we were celebrating a Birthday.  By the time we came to order desert we were handed the desert menu but then waited so long to give our order that we had to leave without any desert.  It was a very, very disappointing experience.  No Sunday menu options, no Birthday acknowledgement and no desert.

Warm welcome from staff. Service was good. Main course of Hunter&rsquo;s chicken schnitzel was very dry with very little pancetta, cheese or Q+BBQ sauce. Chips were also very dry - disappointed considering the main course was &pound;13.95
